Library Cards

Valid membership is required of all who enter the Library. Library cards will be issued to the professors and the students of Holy Spirit Seminary College at the beginning of each academic year. Library membership will expire after graduation or withdrawal from the course. Graduates are eligible to apply for a new library card as alumni. Please fill in the application form and submit it to the Library together with your recent photo, annual fee and recommendation letter (if needed). Approved library card will be issued in 1 month.

    REMARK:

    1. Applicants of categories 1 - 4 must submit applications through the General Office.
    2. Replacement for each lost card is HKD$50
    3. Payment may be made by crossed cheque payable to "Holy Spirit Seminary College of Theology and Philosophy"
    4. Services are provided to the patron named on the card only.

    REMARK:

     

    1. Books/ AV Materials: HSSC undergraduates and Non-degree seeking students can renew the items twice and other patrons can renew once.
    2. Patrons can place a hold on items currently charged out or requested by another patron or on display.
    3. The Library may determine which items may or may not be borrowed.
    4. Patrons mark, deface or mutilate borrowed items will be expected to pay for the items accordingly.
      The Library reserves the right to terminate all privileges of the patron.
    5. It is the patron's responsibility to ensure that items are returned to the Library on time;
      overdue fines will be charged on late returns or renewals.
    6. Any item returned to the Library may not be checked out on the same day.
    7. Items not renewed (if applicable) or returned to the Library after 4 reminder notices have been
      issued will be deemed to have been lost by the patron and will be charged.
    8. Charge for lost/ damaged item:
      1. Patron supplies the Library with an exact duplicate of the original in 1 week plus administrative fee $100 (each item).
      2. If the loss is reported to the Library after the due date, overdue fine is also required.
      3. Lost items will continue to remain the property of the Library even if replacement costs have been paid. All sums paid are non-refundable.
    9. Patrons with outstanding fines or overdue items may not be allowed to borrow further loanable items or use facilities until the fines are paid and books are returned or renewed.
    10. Only HSSC professors, postgraduates and undergraduates are allowed to borrow and to hold Reserved Books.
    11. Only HSSC professors are allowed to borrow the Special Collections.
    12. Only HSSC professors, postgraduates and undergraduates are eligible to use the interlibrary loan service.
