B209 The Synoptic Gospels (2 Credits)

Description:

A close reading of the three synoptic gospels beginning with the Trial of Jesus before the High Priest and the Death of Jesus. The different "theologies" of Matthew, Mark and Luke can be glimpsed from these two scenes. Other scenes will then be considered: some of the pericopes will have parallels in the other Gospels, including John; some will be unique. Markan priority is assumed throughout this course.
