LE05 Christian Spirituality and Chinese Culture (2 credits)

Description:

Through “reflection and understanding” of life, this course seeks to discover the core of Chinese culture and the import of Christian spirituality so as to determine a point where they can meet harmoniously.

1. Preliminary remarks:

1.1  Life-generating self-strengthening

1.2  Reflection on the spirituality arising from Chinese culture and the significance of Christian spirituality

2. To trace out from Chinese culture network of thought where Christian spirituality can be concretely realized

3. Within this framework, the spirituality of Chinese culture (as asynthesis of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism) plays a major role

3.1  "contemplation-enlightenment-life" as the structure

3.2  "Reflection-understanding" interwoven harmoniously

4. The process of "Reflection and Understanding"

4.1  Self-effacement

4.2  Interior breakthrough

4.3  Total abandonment

4.4  Transformation of life

4.5  Being one and whole
